It’s time to put the shorts and t-shirts away because fall is now here. Yes, this is the time that school is starting up again, yet there are many activities and entertaining things that are available to do.

Love dare-defining roller coasters and being terrified? Fright Fest at Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey is the place to be! At six pm, Six Flags turns into a place of horror— vampires, zombies, and monsters with hooks and chainsaws chase you around all night, and at the same time, you can enjoy Kinda Ka, El Torro and so much more.

Another fun activity to do in the fall season includes pumpkin and apple picking. The closest places to do so are Demarest Farms in Hillsdale, DePieros Farm in Montvale, Fresh & Fancy Farms in New Milford, and Secor Farms in Mahwah. However, there is much more that can be done at the farms, such as hayrides, pumpkin carvings, pie eating contests, and corn mazes.

In order to get into the Halloween spirit for October, visiting the terrifying haunted house in New Jersey is a must!  The Brighton Haunted House is located in Montvale, and the monsters that pop out and chase people around the house can create fun fear amongst all.

However, the fun things do not just happen in October—for the rest of fall, some ideas to do include baking pumpkin bread or apple pie, playing in the leaves, attending football games, or simply relaxing by watching a movie with friends and family.  “My favorite thing to do in the fall is stay outside and hang out with friends or go walking. This is the only time when it’s not too cold or hot. The colors the trees make are so beautiful to see,” said Lissa Urena, a senior at Westwood High School.

The essential thing to do this fall is to spend and enjoy all the possible time outdoors, until the brutal winter comes and takes this privilege away. Hiking at the Ramapo Reservation is one activity that will allow one to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and crisp air that the fall has to offer. Another activity that can allow one to take advantage of the fall weather is to saddle up and go horseback riding in Ramapo.

However, not all fun fall activities are done on land—kayaking on the Hudson River with friends and a licensed coast guard captain or going on a helicopter ride will allow people to look at the lovely scenery with a change of pace.

Don’t stay inside all fall; go out and make memories with friends and family—there are many things to do in the season this season of color!
