This Christmas break, I strongly encourage you to complete a book in one sitting. Whether it’s romance, fantasy, memoir, non-fiction, or even poetry, just sit down and do it. There is nothing like immersing yourself in a story from start to finish with no distractions. It’s the most life-changing feeling. Instead of spending your free time over break doom scrolling, pick up a book and learn something. Feel something deeper than dopamine.
You will feel so accomplished, and your brain will be at rest for hours. Not to mention the escape it is. Reading a book nonstop in a day creates this complete disconnect from the rest of the world as you bury yourself in the words printed on the pages. You can create the characters to your own design and truly explore each part of the story, which you can’t do when reading in segments.
There are unlimited books to choose to read in one sitting this break, but some that I would strongly recommend are the “Binding 13” series by Chloe Walsh, “Happy Place” by Emily Henry, and “Shatter Me” by Tahereh Mafi. All three of these books/series will completely transport you and make you want to keep reading. The “Binding 13” series is a series of romance books that take place in Ireland, where high school students deal with real trauma and problems with family and friends. “Happy Place” is the perfect joyful summer romance where you are rooting for your main characters the whole time. Lastly, “Shatter Me”
is an amazing dystopian book with supernatural elements and a romance that you won’t be able to get enough of.
Therefore, you should strongly consider reading an entire book in one sitting over break or at least once in your life because itś like no other experience you have in your life.
