Hype on the new Beyonce album

April 23 was a big day in the hip-hop/ pop world. On April 23, with the release of Beyonce’s new album, Lemonade.

Lemonade is mainly about Jay-Z cheating on Beyonce, and she does not at all try to hide this fact. This news shattered the pop culture world, broke the hearts of many in love with this dynamic duo couple, and made many fans of the both of them “Team Beyonce”, or part of the “Bee Hive”, which are what Beyonce’s fans call themselves.

The album Lemonade is the anthem for any girl that has been cheated on. The first half of the album, especially the song “Hold Up” is relatable for any girl, or really anyone that has been played by someone, that thought they weren’t aware they were being cheated on. With lyrics like, “Hold up, they don’t love you like I love you” and “What’s worse lookin’ jealous or crazy? Jealous or crazy? Or like being walked all over lately, walked all over lately, I’d rather be crazy” it is almost impossible to not find this song relatable.

Even if some people can’t relate to the album, the songs are all still phenomenal, and all different styles of music. The song “Daddy Lessons” has a jazz-type feel with a trumpet solo in the beginning of it. This song is a tribute to her dad, which is the perfect song for those who have strong relationships with their fathers, especially in the beginning of the song when she says, “Came into this world, Daddy’s little girl, And daddy made a soldier out of me”.

One song that is the most upfront about being about Jay-Z’s infidelities is “Don’t Hurt Yourself” featuring Jack White. One of the first lines of the song is, “You ain’t married to no average b**** boy”. Beyonce ends the song with an epic warning to Jay-Z, “this is your final warning. You know I give you life. If you try this shit again , you gonna lose your wife”. This is one of the most unforgettable ends to any song that has came out so far this year.

Overall Lemonade is the album to listen to for anyone that’s been cheated on or had their heartbroken. For those who have the luxury of not having either of those things happen to them, the album is jam packed with all different types of songs. Lemonade is the type of album that can be on repeat all day and you still won’t get sick of it.
