Mrs. Mangione (who you may have met as Ms. Tazyk) has been a Guidance Counselor for seven years. As a guidance counselor, her main responsibilities are providing social, emotional, and academic support through individual or sometimes group counseling.
Originally, Mrs. Mangione studied interior design at Kean University to pursue interior design, but the 3-4 hour classes did not fit her learning style. This led her to switch to Psychology, which she was a better fit. She was wondering what to do with her Psychology degree, which is what led her towards counseling. She did an internship during her senior year of college and immediately fell in love with it.
Mrs. Mangione grew up in Wallington and attended Wallington Schools from kindergarten through high school. She worked in an elementary school in Jersey City for a few years before becoming a Student Assistance Counselor (SAC) after attending William Paterson University for that certification.
When she’s outside the classroom, Mrs. Mangione teaches pilates, something which she very much enjoys doing. After a tough injury and seven months of physical therapy, she found that doing pilates really helped her regain her balance and stability. She also loves to decorate, and play with her 12-year-old named Abby. Mrs. Mangione also runs a monthly book club with her friends.
